Writers Academy – Birmingham

After two years of offering an acting course in Birmingham, YELLOW EARTH ACADEMY returns this year with a brand new FREE introductory course in writing for live performance.

With all the dramatic changes to our day-to-day lives due to the current COVID 19 situation, we brought the start date forward to enable people to creatively connect during this period of social distancing. The Writers’ Academy started on Wednesday 6 May 7-9pm with an online taster session followed by a weekly online session every Wednesday until 3 June.

Meet the Tutor: Sayan Kent

Sayan’s plays have been performed around the country. She has been nominated for The John Whiting Award, shortlisted for the Terrence Rattigan Award and the BBC Script Room, longlisted for The Bruntwood and The Papatango Prize and she was joint winner of the Capital New Writing Festival. She has written many short plays which have been performed at The Rep, Birmingham, Arcola, Park Theatre. Sayan has taught writing at Kali Theatre, the Belgrade Theatre, Staffordshire University, and acting at the Dolphin Dance Academy. She is also a director and dramaturg.

#YEAcademy #Birmingham is delivered by Yellow Earth Theatre in partnership with the BCU’s Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and The Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
